Folk N Wild -ALMA CAFÉ’S UNIQUE MUSIC COMMUNITY

OMC15CAPE Town is a city that is home to an array of local and skilled musicians. But with comparatively few local venues hosting live music, it may be challenging for music enthusiasts who prefer live acoustic music to find a setting that appeals to them.

Events like Folk N Wild at the Alma Café in Rosebank – an intimate venue that trans- forms into a theatre-like environment at night – are premiere hotspots to catch these acoustic indie-folk fringes.

Loudspeakers are directly located in the front and back of the venue to maximise the effect of the uncooked vocals and performances by both big names and bright newcomers in the Cape Town acoustic scene.

2013 proved to be a successful year for Alma Café as several of Cape Town’s local musicians were featured at a variety of events.

“It confirmed that Cape Town and broader South Africa has a wealth of top-notch musicians who are always prepared to give it their best,” says Johnathan Tait, a musician himself, and owner of Alma Café. “Together, we have all created a unique music community, and we are deeply grateful and proud to be a part of this.”
